A few years ago, my wife and I had a special dinner with several friends. Prompted by a video that we watched, each person at the table was asked, “If you could ask God one question, what would it be?”
Needless to say, it took a long time to make it around the table. Each person’s question, and the time it took them to come up with it, told a great deal about their character and their life’s focus.
Some approached the question as if they had just died and were meeting God in Heaven. Others approached it as if this were an opportunity to ask a question today and apply the answer to the rest of their life.
Some asked “Why?” Some asked “How?” Some asked “What?”
Most had to think for a long time about what they would ask.
If you could ask God one question, what would it be?
While you’re thinking about it, why not take the time to ask Him now?
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7

What were some of the responses?

When will Satan retire and stop all the crap he’s causing here on earth? We’re tired of him!
Hmm…I don’t think he ever plans to retire, but I’ve read the end of the book. God wins!
If you’re referring to that night, Jeremy, I must admit that I can’t remember what our exact responses were, even my own. It was seven or eight years ago, so the details are fuzzy in my head. I do remember noting that each person had a very unique and telling approach to the question. I should have written them down!
Yep. I was going to say…. “Just ONE question??? I ask Him questions every day, all day!”.

That’s the way to do it, Amy!
Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons? They never came from a “womb” so they didn’t need them.
That would be my question.

No belly button? Bummer. Where would you keep your lint?!
I would ask, “Am I on the right track?”
I love these thought-provoking posts~

Ah yes, that was one of the responses in the group too.
Thanks for helping my memory, Susie!
I’ve been trying to come up with something witty to say for the last ten minutes, but that “What if God was one of us” song is stuck in my head which is keeping me from posting anything really introspective.

Oh, and now all I can think of is Dr. Evil from Austin Powers singing it! Thanks, Mandie…
